17/ Qadi: Political modernization scheme makes youth partners in decision-making
Amman, June 6 (Petra) – Lower House Speaker Mazen Qadi said on Saturday that Jordan's political modernization enterprise opens the door for youth inclusion, grants them the standing they deserve, and makes them partners in decision-making. "This leading democratic experience underscores advanced political awareness and a spirit of responsibility and belonging among Jordanian youth," he told a ceremony to honor winners of student union councils at the University of Jordan and the Jordan University of Science and Technology, as well as the "Youth 21" council, a youth initiative and leadership program designed to simulate parliamentary work and empower young people in public and political life. "In this step, the youth engaged in a simulation of parliamentary elections through local constituencies and national party lists, demonstrating that politics is a responsibility, and that parties are not merely slogans, but programs, visions, and organized action to serve the nation and its citizens," he said. "This is all under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, who believes in the youth, and whose path is followed by HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, a constant supporter of youth empowerment," he added. "From the national narrative that reconnects generations with their history, identity, and journey, to the national service project that instills discipline, self-reliance, and teamwork, a clear vision emerges, that building the nation begins with building its people, and that Jordan's strength begins with the awareness of its youth," he told the ceremony. "We meet today, as the banners of joy still fly high in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Kingdom's independence. Close to this cherished occasion, we also commemorate the anniversary of His Majesty's accession to the throne, Army Day, and the Great Arab Revolt. We recall the glorious pages written by the Hashemites, our forefathers, and the blood of the martyrs, and the efforts of the men who made Jordan a safe and stable country amidst a region beset by challenges," said Qadi. //Petra//SS
