4/ MoE Extends Pearson Partnership to Expand BTEC Vocational Education Through 2031

London, June 3 (Petra) – The Ministry of Education has signed a five-year partnership extension with Pearson Education at the Jordanian Embassy in London, advancing the Kingdom's Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) reform under the Economic Modernization Vision.

Minister of Education Dr. Azmi Mahafzah finalized the agreement, which extends the ongoing BTEC program collaboration from the 2026/2027 academic year through 2030/2031.

The extension secures continued support for Level 2 and Level 3 BTEC qualifications, building on the framework launched in 2023 to bridge the skills gap and lower youth unemployment by aligning educational outcomes with market demands.

Over the past three years, the BTEC curriculum has expanded from an initial six disciplines to a planned 14 specializations for the upcoming academic year. The three-year educational track implements Level 2 modules for 10th-grade students, followed by a two-year Level 3 program for the 11th and 12th grades.

The expanded curriculum covers diverse sectors, including Information Technology, Engineering, Creative Media, Art and Design, Health and Social Care, Agriculture, Hair and Beauty, Hospitality and Tourism, Sports, Construction, Business, Early Childhood, and Esports.

Under the new terms, the program will be rolled out across 362 public schools. The internationally accredited BTEC certificates grant graduates professional pathways both locally and globally – with recognition across the UK, US, Canada, Australia, and the MENA region – while allowing students to pursue higher education by taking the standard General Secondary Education Certificate (Tawjihi) core subjects.

The agreement also mandates Pearson to provide updated educational resources, technical support, and strict quality assurance monitoring. Additionally, it covers comprehensive teacher training, school accreditation for newly introduced disciplines, and the flexibility to inject further specializations as regional and global labor market requirements evolve.
