17/ Royal Court Chief Patronizes Independence Day Celebration in Zarqa University

Zarqa, June 3 (Petra) -- Chief of the Royal Hashemite Court Yousef Issawi on Wednesday patronized celebrations held by Zarqa University to mark the 80th anniversary of Jordan's Independence, attended by Chairman of Zarqa Education and Investment Company Mahmooud Abu Shaira.

The event was attended by Chairman of the University's Board of Trustees Samir Habashneh, Zarqa Governor Firas Abu Qaoud, University President Nidal Ramahi, representatives of official and public bodies, university officials, and students.

Speaking at the ceremony, Habashneh said Independence Day represents "more than a national occasion and reflectsJordan's development under Hashemite leadership over the decades."

He said Jordan, as it enters its eighth decade of independence, continues to demonstrate resilience of its state institutions, supported by wise Hashemite leadership, national unity and strong institutions capable of meeting challenges.

Habashneh highlighted Jordan's "active" global role under His Majesty King Abdullah II's leadership, noting the Kingdom's support for Arab issues, particularly the Palestinian cause.

Noting knowledge and innovation as key drivers of Jordan's future development, he said Zarqa University contributes to this vision through its academic and national mission by preparing graduates equipped to engage with global technological transformations.

In turn, Dean of Student Affairs Mukhlid Zoubi said Independence Day embodies the values of sovereignty, dignity and loyalty to the sacrifices of those who contributed to building the modern Jordanian state.

He added that Jordan's progress reflects confidence in its people's capabilities and the continued efforts of the Hashemite leadership to advance development, justice and empowerment while investing in human capital.

Zoubi emphasized the role of young people in safeguarding national achievements and contributing to the country's future development.

The celebration featured a range of national, cultural and artistic performances presented by students and participants.

Concluding the event, Abu Shaira honored Issawi with a commemorative shield in recognition of his patronage of the event.
