  20/ Ministers urge upgrades to boost BRT transport services 

Amman, July 16 (Petra) – Minister of Transport and Labor, Dr. Nidal Qatamin, on Thursday chaired a meeting of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project Steering Committee.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Public Works and Housing, Maher Abulsamen, Minister of Finance, Dr. Abdul Hakim Shibli, Minister of Investment, Dr. Tariq Abu Ghazaleh, and representatives from the Greater Amman Municipality and other relevant institutions and bodies.

According to a committee statement, discussions checked on progress in the BRT project, mainly implementation and operational phases, and followed up on procedures for developing the project's infrastructure and improving services for citizens.

This process aims to enhance "efficiency" of the Kingdom's transportation system and promote reliance on public transport.

During the meeting, the ministers called for continuing to develop the project and strengthening its role in improving Jordan's public transport services and providing "safe, organized, and efficient" transportation for citizens.

The team also stressed the importance of "integrated" efforts among all stakeholders to ensure the project's sustainability and achievement of its goals.

Additionally, discussions went over necessary procedures to address several operational, technical, and organizational challenges facing the project, aimed to enhance performance and improve the user experience.

Urging continued inter-stakeholder coordination and follow-up, the participants stressed the need to implement the project's development plans to meet citizens' needs and contribute to the development of the Kingdom's public transportation system.
