74/ Zarqa municipality presses ahead with upgrading roads, public services
Zarqa, July 15 (Petra) -- The Zarqa Municipality is executing an integrated field program aimed at upgrading public services, improving road infrastructure, and enhancing environmental and health safety standards across the city, the head of the municipal committee said. Khalid Al-Khashman told the Jordan News agency, Petra, that the municipality is pressing ahead with a comprehensive plan to rehabilitate damaged streets. Municipal public works crews have begun scraping and texturing worn-out roads in various parts of the city ahead of a major resurfacing initiative, he said, adding that road maintenance contracts would be awarded sequentially based on priority. Alongside road repairs, the municipality is upgrading public parks and facilities. In the Ninth District, crews collaborated with the municipal container workshop to install new benches in the Aujan Triangle Park to provide a safer and more welcoming environment for visiting families and children. Addressing public health, Al-Khashman said the vector control department carried out a widespread spraying and disinfection campaign in the Eighth District as part of a regular program to curb insect and pest populations. Simultaneously, sanitation workers conducted extensive cleanup operations on Al-Quds Al-Arabi Street, the Jabal Tariq area, and the Third District, removing waste and clearing public squares to improve the city's urban landscape. Al-Khashman emphasized that the success of these initiatives relies heavily on a strong partnership with local residents, urging citizens to dispose of waste in designated bins and help preserve public property to foster community responsibility. //Petra// AF
