55/ Transport minister discusses expansion plans with AIG officials

Amman, July 15 (Petra) -- Minister of Transport and Minister of Labor Nidal Katamine met on Wednesday with Anton Crombez, the newly appointed chairman of Airport International Group (AIG), and Nicolas Deviller, the group's chief executive, to discuss operational status and future expansion plans for Queen Alia International Airport.

During the meeting, Katamine emphasized the airport's critical role as Jordan's primary gateway. He underscored the government's commitment to supporting infrastructure development and upgrading passenger services to align with international best practices.

The minister reviewed the progress of the airport's comprehensive expansion projects, which consist of 15 development initiatives alongside a major rehabilitation project for the southern runway. These plans aim to elevate operational efficiency, improve the passenger experience, and expand capacity to meet growing demand for air travel amid current regional developments.

Katamine was also briefed on measures implemented to ensure smooth passenger flows while maintaining strict safety, security, and operational standards to consolidate the airport's position as a regional aviation hub.

The AIG leadership outlined ongoing projects and future development strategies, reaffirming their commitment to working in partnership with the Ministry of Transport and other relevant authorities to deliver high-quality services and strengthen Jordan's competitive position in the global aviation sector.
