46/ Jordan, Japan look to strengthen trade, investment ties

Amman, July 12 (Petra) - Asari Hideki, Japanese Ambassador to Jordan, said on Sunday that Tokyo is committed to strengthening economic ties with Amman, describing the Kingdom as a vital "anchor of stability" and a strategic regional hub.

Jordan's political stability, skilled workforce, and strategic position connecting Asia, Europe, and the Middle East make it an "ideal platform" for Japanese investment, logistics, and production, the envoy stated at the Jordan Economic Forum (JEF).

As Japan continues to lead in technology, high-quality infrastructure, and critical supply chains, it seeks to scale up investment in Jordan to transform the nation into a logistics and production gateway for the broader region, according to the ambassador.

He pointed to several successful joint initiatives, such as funding for the Jordan Museum and Petra Museum through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), regional training programs, and the NINJA initiative, which provides seed funding and mentorship to Jordanian tech startups.

Jordan Economic Forum Chairman Kheir Abu Saalik lauded Japan's long-term support for Jordan's development and said expanding economic cooperation would strengthen ties between the two countries.

The session concluded with delegates agreeing to leverage strong diplomatic ties to boost bilateral trade, investment, and technology transfer amidst shifting global economics.
