35/ Jordan, Oman senators talk cooperation
Amman, July 12 (Petra) -- The Jordanian Senate's Legal Committee and the Omani State Council's Legal Committee discussed ways to strengthen legislative cooperation and exchange legal expertise during a meeting in Amman on Sunday. The meeting, chaired by Senate Legal Committee Chair Ahmad Tbeishat, brought together Sultan bin Matar Al Azizi, chair of the Omani State Council's Legal Committee, and members of the visiting delegation. According to a committee statement, Tbeishat called for deepening cooperation and sharing legislative expertise to enhance the quality of legislation and strengthen legal frameworks in Jordan and Oman. He outlined the Senate's internal regulations, the Legal Committee's working mechanisms, and its role in reviewing draft laws through comprehensive legal and legislative analysis to ensure consistency with Jordan's legal framework and uphold the rule of law. Al Azizi, in turn said the meeting reflects the strong ties between Jordan and Oman and their shared commitment to expanding parliamentary cooperation and exchanging legislative expertise to improve institutional performance. He added that the Omani State Council is reviewing and updating its internal regulations to enhance institutional efficiency and is keen to benefit from the Jordanian parliamentary experience. He said the Council is looking to leverage Jordan's Senate's expertise in drafting and implementing its internal rules as part of efforts to promote best legislative practices and keep pace with developments in parliamentary work. //Petra// NQ
