31/ Water Ministry Launches Plumbing Training for Women with Disabilities

Amman, July 12 (Petra) – The Ministry of Water and Irrigation/Water Authority launched a third plumbing training program for women with disabilities in Balqa Governorate, aimed at equipping participants with practical skills in household plumbing, water leak detection, and basic maintenance.

The training, held at Al-Amal School for the Deaf, targets women with disabilities, including deaf women and women with speech disabilities, as part of efforts to promote inclusion and expand access to life and vocational skills.

The program is implemented under the Water Wise Women project, jointly funded by the World Bank and the French Development Agency (AFD), and carried out by Future Pioneers and the Skillfull Hands Association, the ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

The ministry said the training supports water awareness and rationalizes household and community water consumption, reflecting its commitment to enabling all segments of society to acquire practical skills.

It added that the program is part of broader efforts to engage women in supporting the sustainable management of water resources and strengthening their role in promoting sound water-conservation practices, particularly amid Jordan’s water challenges.

The training includes specialized theoretical and practical modules designed to build participants’ capacities and provide them with skills they can use in daily life. It also opens new opportunities for economic and community participation and promotes equal access to learning and capacity building for people with disabilities.
