17/ Arab Parliament Speaker Condemns Iranian Attacks on Gulf States, Jordan

Cairo, July 12 (Petra) -- Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi on Sunday strongly condemned Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Jordan.

Al Yamahi said the attacks constitute a flagrant violation of Arab states' sovereignty and a serious breach of international law and the U.N. Charter.

He described the strikes as a dangerous escalation that threatens regional security and stability and undermines regional and international efforts to contain tensions and strengthen peace.

The speaker affirmed the Arab Parliament's full and unwavering solidarity with the affected states and its unconditional support for all measures they take to safeguard national security, protect sovereignty, and defend citizens and residents.

He stressed that any infringement on the security, sovereignty or territorial integrity of any Arab state represents a direct threat to the collective Arab national security system and demands a firm, deterrent Arab and international response.

Al Yamahi called on the international community, foremost the U.N. Security Council and the United Nations, to fulfill its political, legal and moral responsibilities by taking urgent, decisive action to halt the attacks, hold those responsible accountable, and ensure respect for state sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He urged full adherence to international law and the U.N. Charter to prevent further escalation and preserve regional and international security and stability.
