18/ Monsoon floods, landslides kill at least 44 in southeast Bangladesh
Amman, July 11 (Petra) -- At least 44 people have been killed by floods and landslides triggered by heavy monsoon rains in southeastern Bangladesh, leaving more than one million others stranded in the affected areas, officials said on Saturday. The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief said the flooding had swept through seven districts, disrupting daily life and isolating tens of thousands of families from neighboring areas. ] Rescue and relief operations have been hampered by power outages, damaged roads, and severed communication networks, while residents face acute shortages of food and clean drinking water, the ministry added. State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Md. Mohibur Rahman said the government is continuing to distribute aid, medical supplies, and safe drinking water to those affected. He urged residents to move to shelter centers in the impacted regions. //Petra// AF
