9/ Arab Parliament Welcomes US Move to Revoke Syria's State Sponsor of Terrorism Designation
Cairo, July 10 (Petra)-- Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi has welcomed the United States' announcement that it has begun procedures to revoke the Syrian Arab Republic's designation as a State Sponsor of Terrorism, describing the move as a positive step that could support Syria's recovery, reconstruction, and long-term stability. Al Yamahi said the decision would help create a more favorable environment for economic development, while contributing to the country's reconstruction efforts and broader stabilization. He added that the move marks an important development that supports Syria's return to its normal role within the international community. It would also help ease the economic and humanitarian burdens facing the Syrian people, stimulate economic activity, attract investment, and advance the aspirations of Syrians for security, stability, and prosperity. The Arab Parliament Speaker reaffirmed the parliament's steadfast support for Arab, regional, and international efforts aimed at assisting Syria, preserving its unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and strengthening its state institutions in a way that promotes security, stability, and safeguards the interests of the Syrian people.
