5/ Moscow Urges Protection of Freedom of Navigation in the Strait of Hormuz

Moscow, July 10 (Petra)-- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has stressed that the dispute surrounding Iran must be resolved through negotiations, while emphasizing the importance of ensuring the safety of commercial shipping and the uninterrupted flow of oil and gas through the Strait of Hormuz.

Speaking at a press conference, Lavrov said Moscow's position on developments involving Iran, the Strait of Hormuz, and the wider Gulf region is that the conflict can only be settled through dialogue.

He stressed that any agreement should take into account the interests of countries affected, directly or indirectly, by the negative impact of the current situation on the global economy.

Lavrov added that a negotiated settlement remains the only viable path to easing regional tensions and safeguarding international economic stability.
