15/ UN: Israeli Military Operations, Settler Violence Continue to Displace Palestinians in West Bank

New York, July 10 (Petra)-- The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said on Friday that ongoing Israeli military operations, increasing movement restrictions, demolitions, settlement expansion, and settler violence in the occupied West Bank are continuing to displace Palestinians and heighten protection risks while limiting access to housing, livelihoods, and essential services.

OCHA said that since the beginning of July, demolition operations have displaced 67 people and destroyed 24 structures, including two donor-funded facilities that had been established to support vulnerable Palestinian communities.

Since the start of the year, settler attacks and demolition operations have displaced more than 3,200 Palestinians an average of 17 people per day double the daily average recorded over the previous three years, according to the UN office.

Regarding Gaza, OCHA cited the World Central Kitchen as saying that Israeli forces killed a driver working for one of its logistics partners while he was transporting humanitarian aid from the Kerem Shalom crossing to the organization's warehouse in Gaza. The aid organization called for a comprehensive investigation and accountability for those responsible for the driver's death.

OCHA reiterated that civilians and civilian infrastructure must be protected under international humanitarian law.

On humanitarian funding, the UN office said only 26 percent of the $4.1 billion requested for humanitarian operations in the occupied Palestinian territory this year has been received.
