  20/ Experts talk Amra City’s role in economy, technology development

Amman, January 31 (Petra) – Experts and specialists in economics, investment and technology on Saturday discussed the strategic importance of the Amra City project for Jordan's economy, noting its potential to drive growth, attract investment and stimulate technological innovation.

The remarks came during a specialised dialogue session at the Prime Ministry on the project's "Economic Impact and Future Technologies." Participants discussed the city's expected contributions to economic activity, investment attraction and the role of digital tools and smart infrastructure in maximising its impact.

Experts called for prioritising projects that leverage the city's competitive advantages, including tourism, exhibitions and industrial clusters and yrged a unified data platform to support decision-making, incentives for private-sector investment and housing support programmes in coordination with banks and relevant authorities.

The session focused on infrastructure and connectivity, highlighting roads, traffic management and urban planning to ensure easy access from Amman, Queen Alia International Airport, Zarqa and international highways connecting Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Syria.

Participants called for providing economic opportunities to encourage Jordanians to settle in the city.

Experts highlighted digital infrastructure, global academic partnerships and workforce training in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, as key pillars for future value creation.

They suggested facilitating expatriate access and learning from global experiences to enhance the city's implementation.

The session addressed sustainability and governance of smart technologies to ensure long-term effectiveness, positioning Amra City as a potential hub for technology exports.

Key themes discussed included the city's economic and strategic role, investment impact, macroeconomic benefits, digital infrastructure and technology as a catalyst for growth.
