10/ Ministers join tree-planting event in Ramtha

Ramtha, Jan 31 (Petra) -- The Ministers of Youth Raed Adwan and Local Administration Walid Masri on Saturday took part in an event to plant 6,000 trees in Ramtha in Irbid Governorate, part of the national afforestation and greening campaign being implemented across Jordan.

The campaign aims to promote a culture of environmental volunteerism among youth, and directly involve them in environmental issues and resource protection, Adwan told Petra in an interview. He said the Youth Ministry is developing joint programs to implement a strategy to plant one million forest trees.

He pointed out that in partnership with the "We Are" platform and young volunteers, parks in Ramtha have been planted with trees as part of the national afforestation strategy.

The joint campaign, he said, reflects a participatory approach to promoting environmental awareness and establishing a culture of volunteerism.

Masri said the campaign is part of a comprehensive national blueprint to plant more than 250,000 trees this year with the aim of expanding green spaces and improving the environmental and urban landscape across the Kingdom.

The initiative is part of an integrated plan for afforestation and increasing green spaces, in line with the objectives of the national afforestation campaign, head of the Ramtha Municipality Committee Jamal Abu Obeid said. He hailed the Ministries of Youth and Local Administration for their role in the campaign's success, noting that the municipality has planted 3,500 trees in the past ten days, with a target of 6,000.

The activities are part of the national afforestation campaign launched by the Ministry of Local Administration in cooperation with several other ministries marking Arbor Day, with the aim of raising environmental awareness, highlighting the importance of afforestation, and increasing green spaces throughout the Kingdom.
