26/ Ministry Distributes 180 Waste Containers to Support National Cleanliness Strategy
Amman, Jan. 28 (Petra) – The Ministry of Environment on Wednesday distributed 180 plastic waste containers, each with a capacity of 240 liters, to several governorates to support municipal efforts and curb indiscriminate waste dumping. The initiative forms part of the executive program of the National Cleanliness and Anti-Indiscriminate Waste Dumping Strategy, aimed at improving public hygiene and raising environmental awareness among citizens. The distribution covered Balqa Governorate and the Jordan Valley region, where the containers were allocated to meet municipal needs and promote cleanliness in urban and tourist areas. The Ministry said the initiative seeks to strengthen environmental infrastructure in municipalities, as well as in tourist and archaeological sites, thereby supporting environmental sustainability, protecting public health, and enhancing the aesthetic appeal of cities. The Ministry noted that future distribution phases will extend to southern governorates. Officials stressed the importance of collaboration between government institutions and local communities to ensure the success of such initiatives, urging citizens to use the designated containers and actively contribute to maintaining a clean and healthy environment. //Petra// AJ
