31/ Jordan Valley Authority leases land for agricultural project supporting landmine victims

Amman, Jan. 26 (Petra) – The Jordan Valley Authority plans to lease 32 dunams of land in Rayyan village, Northern Shuna District, to implement a productive agricultural project aimed at supporting landmine victims.

An investment agreement to establish model citrus farms in the Northern Shuna District was signed Monday by Secretary-General of the Jordan Valley Authority Hisham Hayseh and Adnan Telfah, Head of Mine Risk Education/ Victims’ Assistance Department of the National Committee for Demining and Rehabilitation. The project is designed to generate sustainable funding for programs benefiting landmine victims.

Hayseh said the initiative is expected to create employment opportunities for landmine victims while contributing to broader sustainable development goals. He noted that the project aligns with the Economic Modernization Vision and falls within government efforts to advance development across the Kingdom, strengthen local communities in the governorates, and support local economies through initiatives that generate employment opportunities, particularly for youth.

He added that the Jordan Valley Authority continues to translate royal directives into practical projects that enhance economic and service conditions in areas under its mandate and improve their attractiveness to investment. He also said the authority is working to provide legislative incentives for investors, with positive impacts on income levels and social stability.

For their part, commissioners of the National Committee for Demining and Rehabilitation expressed appreciation to the Jordan Valley Authority for the initiative, highlighting its role in supporting landmine victims, promoting economic development, and serving local communities.
