15/ Jordan-Bahrain Ties Deep-Rooted, Says Culture Minister
Amman, Jan. 26 (Petra) -- Minister of Culture Mustafa Rawashdeh said on Monday relations between Jordan and sisterly Bahrain are historically close, fostered by His Majesty King Abdullah II and King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The two countries pursue policies marked by moderation, balance, and tolerance, Rawashdeh noted at a meeting in Manama with Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities President Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, according to a press release. Rawashdeh invited Bahrain as a guest of honor at the Amman International Book Fair, and to participate in the upcoming Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts through folklore groups reflecting Bahrain’s rich history and cultural heritage. The meeting also explored prospects of expanding cultural cooperation, including the exchange of cultural weeks and days between the two kingdoms. Rawashdeh also toured the Bahrain National Museum, viewing galleries and exhibits that showcased the kingdom’s memory and history spanning over 6,000 years. The museum features Arab-Islamic heritage, traditional crafts, documents and manuscripts, and fine arts. It was inaugurated in December 1988 and is considered one of the key museums in the Gulf region. //Petra// NQ
