30/ Mass Power Outages Hit U.S. as Winter Storm Sweeps 10 States
Amman, Jan. 25 (Petra) - More than 600,000 electricity customers were left without power Sunday in the United States due to a powerful winter storm that has affected 10 states. According to CNN, Tennessee, Texas, Mississippi, and Louisiana recorded the highest numbers of homes and businesses impacted, each with over 100,000 customers experiencing outages. The extreme weather has also caused major travel disruptions, with more than 13,000 flights canceled by U.S. airlines. In response to the escalating situation, President Donald Trump on Saturday issued state of emergency declarations for 10 southeastern states, enabling federal assistance to support storm response efforts. Trump said his administration is working closely with affected state governors and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to prepare for and respond to the storm’s ongoing impacts. //Petra// AF
