  25/ CSPD issued 381,000 digital certificates since e-service launch-Director

Amman, January 22 (Petra) – Director General of Civil Status and Passports Department (CSPD), Ghaith Ghazi Tayeb, said its digital certificate service has witnessed a "significant" increase in demand from citizens both inside and outside the Kingdom.

Tayeb announced approximately 381,000 digital certificates were issued since the e-service was launched last May through the government "Sanad" application.

Tayeb's announcement came during his inspection of the workflow at Amman's Ashrafieh and Hay Nazzal Civil Status and Passports offices, as part of a field visit aimed at monitoring workflow and assessing the service provided to citizens.

Talking during his tour, Tayeb said this e-service enables citizens to issue certificates for previously registered vital events, mainly birth, marriage, divorce, death, individual registration, and family registration documents, which are issued electronically in a PDF version in both Arabic and English.

On a broader level, he noted the e-service is part of the department's efforts to enhance digital transformation and facilitate citizens' access to services both within and outside the Kingdom.

He added that digital certificates are now available from anywhere round the clock and nonstop, as the department will be open on Fridays and official holidays, without restrictions on regular working hours.

Tayeb said this progress will help alleviate pressure on Jordanian embassies and reduce congestion in the department's offices nationwide.

Tayeb added that digital certificates do not cost any additional fees and are recognized by all Jordanian governmental and private entities.

This development represents a "significant" step forward in the government's strategy to improve service quality and enhance institutional performance, he pointed out.

Last year, he said Ashrafieh and Hay Nazzal offices processed a total of approximately 150,000 documents, reflecting the "considerable effort and efficiency of the staff in providing services to citizens."
