  10/ Yarmouk University Tops National Rankings in Key Disciplines, Advances Globally

Irbid, Jan. 22 (Petra) -- Yarmouk University has secured the top local position in key academic disciplines while recording notable gains in global standings under the 2026 Times Higher Education subject classifications.

The university placed first locally, jointly, in medical and health sciences as well as arts and humanities, reflecting strong academic performance and sustained institutional advancement.

At the international level, several of the university’s disciplines were listed among the world’s leading institutions. Medical and health sciences and information technology were included within the global top 500 universities, appearing in the 401–500 category, while education disciplines advanced to the 301–400 tier worldwide.

Arts and humanities also recorded significant progress by entering the global top 600 universities within the 501–600 range. Engineering disciplines posted one of the most notable improvements, advancing by nearly 200 positions compared with the previous year and appearing for the first time within the 501–600 global band.

The results further showed that business and economics, life sciences, and social sciences maintained strong international positions, underscoring the university’s consistent academic and research performance across a broad range of fields.

University President Dr. Malek Alsharairi said the outcomes reflect Yarmouk University’s growing academic stature at both the regional and international levels, attributing the progress to sustained efforts to enhance teaching quality, expand research output, and align academic programs with international benchmarks.

He added that the achievement is the result of collective efforts by faculty members, administrative staff, and students, reaffirming the university’s commitment to continued advancement on the global higher education stage.

Vice President for Scientific Research, Accreditation, and Global Classifications Prof. Dr. Ruba Al-Batainah said the results provide strong momentum to further strengthen the university’s international presence and consolidate its reputation as a leading institution contributing to knowledge creation and community development.
