42/ UN reports Israeli-imposed curfew on 25,000 Palestinians in Hebron’s H2 area
New York, Jan. 19 (Petra) - The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said Monday that Israeli forces imposed a curfew on around 25,000 Palestinians in parts of the H2 area of Hebron, controlled by Israel, as part of what it described as a "large-scale operation" launched today. Initial reports indicate heavy deployment of military vehicles and snipers on rooftops, alongside the closure of six internal roads. According to OCHA’s daily report, four bakeries were forced to suspend operations, and two stores serving around 4,000 people with UN-issued vouchers for essential goods remain closed. Education was suspended in more than ten schools, affecting thousands of students. The office added that the area has suffered significant power outages since the weekend after a local power station was damaged. Efforts are underway to allow technicians to restore electricity despite the curfew. Measures are also being taken to facilitate emergency medical evacuations and enable students to attend classes online where possible. Families remain confined to their homes, complicating access to food, medicine, and other essential supplies. //Petra// AF
