32/ Syria announces ceasefire, full integration deal with Kurdish-led SDF
Amman, Jan. 18 (Petra) - Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa announced on Sunday the signing of a ceasefire and full integration agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), stipulating an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire on all fronts and contact lines between the two sides, alongside the withdrawal of all SDF military formations to the east of the Euphrates as a preliminary step toward redeployment. According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), Al-Sharaa said during a press conference following the signing of the agreement that "the Syrian state is a unified state with centralized decision-making, and state institutions will enter all Syrian geography and manage all regional affairs. As for some areas with particular characteristics, the nomination of security personnel will be from among the sons of those areas." The agreement stipulates a comprehensive and immediate ceasefire on all fronts and contact lines between Syrian government forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces, in parallel with the withdrawal of all SDF military formations to the east of the Euphrates as a preparatory step for redeployment. It also provides for the immediate administrative and military handover of Deir Ezzor and Raqqa provinces in full to the Syrian government, including the takeover of all civilian institutions and facilities, with the issuance of immediate decisions to retain current employees within the relevant Syrian state ministries and a government commitment not to target SDF personnel or fighters and the civil administration in the two provinces. Under the agreement, all civil institutions in Hasakah province will be integrated into Syrian state institutions and administrative structures, while the Syrian government will assume control of all border crossings and oil and gas fields in the area, with their protection secured by regular forces to ensure the return of resources to the Syrian state. //Petra// AF
