30/ Jordan launches training course on effective communication with PwDs

Amman, Jan. 18 (Petra) – The "Ebni" campaign, which advocates for the rights of persons with disabilities and promotes their access to comprehensive health services, has launched a national training course via the E-jawda training platform titled "Effective Communication with Persons with Disabilities," in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and the Health Care Accreditation Council (HCAC), with the aim of enhancing the quality of health services in Jordan and developing the skills of health-sector personnel in this field.

According to a statement issued by the campaign on Sunday, the course aims to enable health workers to communicate professionally with persons with disabilities in line with national and international standards, in a manner that meets privacy requirements and enhances the delivery of comprehensive, high-quality medical services. The statement noted that the course is accredited within Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs by three councils: the Jordan Medical Council, the Jordanian Nursing Council and the Higher Health Council. Its training content is also officially accredited by the Ministry of Health and the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

The course targets doctors, nurses, midwives, allied health staff, and administrative personnel, contributing to improving the quality of health services and creating an inclusive working environment within health institutions.

According to the statement, the launch of the course comes within the framework of the "We Lead" project implemented by the Arab Network for Civic Education (ANHRE) in Jordan as part of efforts to promote inclusion and justice in vital sectors.

The course was launched concurrently with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the "Ebni" campaign and the HCAC to strengthen cooperation in the fields of awareness, training, and content dissemination via the E-jawda training platform, expanding access to health-sector personnel across the Kingdom’s governorates.

Campaign spokesperson Anas Dhamrah said the course represents a qualitative step toward developing comprehensive health services in Jordan in response to a real need within the health sector and aims to empower personnel to provide more equitable and fair services to persons with disabilities. He noted that the partnership with the HCAC represents a national model of integration between civil society institutions and reference bodies.

For her part, HCAC Chief Executive Officer Salma Jaouni said the course enhances the capacities of health workers to communicate effectively with persons with disabilities as a key pillar in delivering fair and inclusive health services. She affirmed the council’s commitment to equipping health-sector workers with the knowledge and skills needed to ensure respect for patient privacy and achieve the highest standards of quality in health care.
