47/ NCHR Official Visits "Made with Determination" Store to Support Rehabilitation Programs

Amman, Jan. 14 (Petra) - The National Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) on Wednesday visited the "Made with Determination" store, which markets products made by inmates of correction and rehabilitation centers affiliated with the Public Security Directorate (PSD), as part of efforts to strengthen institutional partnership and support rehabilitation and reform programs.

NCHR Protection Commissioner Nahla Momani said the visit comes within the framework of ongoing and joint cooperation between the center and the PSD, noting the center’s keenness to support national efforts aimed at empowering inmates and reintegrating them into society in a positive and productive manner.

Momani praised the efforts made by the Public Security Directorate, particularly the Correction and Rehabilitation Centers Directorate, in rehabilitating inmates and economically empowering them, noting that these efforts were crowned with the store and its team receiving the Crown Prince Award for Voluntary Work for 2025.

She added that the center seeks to make use of products made by inmates of correction and rehabilitation centers in its various activities and events in a way that contributes to supporting these productive initiatives, entrenching the concept of social responsibility, and motivating inmates to develop their professional skills in line with international human rights standards.

For his part, Director of the Correction and Rehabilitation Centers Directorate Brig. Gen. Falah Al-Majali stressed the importance of this constructive partnership with the NCHR, affirming that the PSD works to rehabilitate inmates and equip them with practical skills that enable them economically and ensure non-recidivism.

He pointed to the directorate’s efforts to expand areas of rehabilitation in a manner that serves reform and rehabilitation programs and contributes to providing real opportunities for inmates to acquire practical skills that help them integrate into society after their release.

Al-Majali said the "Made with Determination" project represents a successful model in transforming inmates’ energies into products of economic and social value, enhancing the concept of restorative justice and reinforcing the role of national institutions in supporting pathways of community development.

During the visit, the center’s team reviewed products made by inmates of correction and rehabilitation centers, and the two sides agreed on frameworks for future cooperation in this regard.
