2/ Scattered Showers in Western Areas, Gradual Improvement Expected

Amman, Jan. 14 (Petra) -- Cold and unsettled weather continues to affect the Kingdom on Wednesday, with intermittent rain showers lingering over western regions before conditions gradually improve later in the day.

Skies range between partly cloudy and cloudy at times, while scattered showers fall intermittently across western parts of the country. Rain chances are expected to ease during the early nighttime hours as atmospheric conditions stabilize. Moderate northwesterly winds will prevail, becoming active at times.

The Jordan Meteorological Department warned of reduced visibility during the morning hours due to fog over mountainous areas, plains, and parts of the desert. It also cautioned against frost and freezing conditions late at night over high mountain elevations, particularly in southern regions, in addition to reduced visibility caused by dust in desert areas.

Temperatures are forecast to rise slightly on Thursday, with foggy conditions during the morning and cold weather persisting across most regions. Milder conditions will continue in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba, with low clouds and moderate northwesterly winds that may become active at times.

Another modest rise in temperatures is expected on Friday. Morning fog will persist, while cold conditions continue in most areas and milder weather prevails in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Low clouds are expected over northern and central regions, with light southeasterly winds.

Cold weather will continue on Saturday across most regions, while conditions remain relatively mild in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Winds will be light southeasterly.

Temperatures on Wednesday are forecast to range between 9 and 4 degrees Celsius in eastern Amman and between 7 and 2 degrees in western Amman. The northern highlands are expected to record temperatures of 5 to 1 degrees, while the Al-Sharah highlands will range between 4 and 0 degrees.

Desert areas will see temperatures between 14 and 6 degrees, plains between 10 and 5 degrees, and the northern Jordan Valley between 18 and 9 degrees. In the southern Jordan Valley, temperatures will range from 21 to 14 degrees, while the Dead Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba are expected to record temperatures of 19 to 12 degrees and 21 to 13 degrees Celsius, respectively.
