20/ Yarmouk University inks deal on medical manufacturing innovation

Irbid, Jan. 12 (Petra) -- Yarmouk University on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding to implement a higher education project focused on innovation and growth in the medical manufacturing sector.

According to a university statement, the memorandum, supported by the United States Department of State and implemented through the International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX), was signed by University President Malek Shrairi and Higher Education for Innovation Project Director Abdullah Ali Abdullah.

Under the agreement, a technical committee will be formed to manage project activities, assess institutional capacities, and improve performance. The memorandum also provides for Yarmouk University to host the Collaborative Stimulus Group in Medical Manufacturing (C3), while expanding researcher participation and collaboration with the industrial sector.

The agreement further outlines IREX’s cooperation with the university in implementing an institutional capacity assessment tool and providing technical and financial support in line with a defined performance improvement plan.

The memorandum aims to enhance the university’s institutional efficiency and develop its core academic and research functions through project implementation in cooperation with Virginia Tech and the Women in Business and Professional Associations.

Shrairi highlighted the importance of the partnership with IREX in delivering high-quality academic and applied projects, commending the project team from the Hijjawi Faculties of Engineering Technology, Medicine, and Pharmacy for their contribution to supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing and strengthening links with the productive sector.
