23/ Army begins recruitment procedures for 2026 conscripts
Amman, Jan. 11 (Petra) -- The Mobilization and Popular Army Department on Sunday began implementing recruitment procedures for the first batch of conscripts for 2026, in line with plans and programs approved by the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces. The department said the procedures will continue for 10 days and include receiving conscripts, reviewing official lists, verifying personal data, conducting height and weight measurements, issuing civil documents, opening relevant records, and issuing appointment certificates. The measures aim to ensure accuracy, transparency, and orderly implementation in accordance with approved standards. The first batch, comprising 2,000 conscripts, will begin training at the Jordan Armed Forces/Shuwayr camp on February 1, with the training program scheduled to last three months. The recruitment follows the reactivation of the National Military Service Program in August 2025, resuming a service suspended since 1992. Batch 54 will begin with 6,000 young men born in 2007, selected through a neutral electronic draw to ensure fair representation from all governorates. The program will gradually expand to 10,000 participants in following years to ensure training quality and coverage. //Petra// AJ
