Amman, Feb. 27 (Petra)-- A new U.S. public opinion survey shows that 57 percent of Americans support the establishment of an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel. According to the latest poll conducted by the U.S. research company Gallup, there has been a noticeable shift in Americans’ attitudes toward Israel and Palestine compared with previous years. Among Republicans, 70 percent reported greater sympathy for Israel, while 13 percent said they sympathize more with the Palestinians. However, support for Israel within this group declined by 10 percentage points compared to 2024, marking its lowest level since 2004, according to international news agencies. Among young adults aged 18 to 34, 53 percent expressed greater sympathy for the Palestinians, while support for Israel fell to 23 percent the lowest level recorded. Notably, a majority in this age group reported this stance for the first time. In the 35–54 age group, 46 percent said they sympathize more with the Palestinians, compared to 28 percent for Israel. In 2025, this group had leaned toward Israel by 45 percent to 33 percent for Palestine.
