18/ Youth minister, Azerbaijan ambassador discuss strengthening cooperation
Amman, Feb. 26 (Petra) – Minister of Youth, Dr. Raed Adwan, met with Azerbaijan Ambassador to Jordan, Shahin Abdullayev, to discuss ways to enhance joint youth cooperation. During the meeting held Thursday at the Ministry of Youth, Adwan emphasized the "deep-rooted" relations and ties between the two countries in various fields. The two sides discussed aspects of mutual cooperation and expertise exchange in implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security, which aims to promote youth participation in international peace and security issues. Adwan highlighted Jordan's "leading" role in implementing the resolution, both locally and globally. The resolution, adopted by the Security Council in 2015, was the result of the efforts of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II. Adwan also noted Jordan's leadership in preparing the Arab Strategy for Youth, Peace and Security, which was launched in Amman. Locally, he highlighted Jordan's experience in volunteer work through the King Hussein bin Abdullah II Award for Volunteer Work and the program for promoting local youth and volunteer initiatives. He underscored the ministry's commitment to enhancing young people's skills and building their capacities. Noting the ministry's training programs platform, he said this portal aims to empower Jordanian youth in several areas, including life skills development, leadership and political empowerment, as well as arts, music, digital skills, and diverse sports programs such as taekwondo, jujitsu, and football. In turn, the ambassador noted Azerbaijan's "rich" youth and sports experience and its "numerous" sporting achievements. The diplomat expressed his aspiration to strengthen cooperation on youth issues of mutual interest through a joint executive program that contributes to transferring expertise and knowledge and implementation of bilateral youth and cultural exchange programs. //Petra// AG
