16/ Telecom Regulator, GSMA Host Regional AI Training Program

Amman, Feb. 12 (Petra) --The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) hosted a specialized training program on artificial intelligence and telecommunications, in cooperation with Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA), with broad participation from experts and specialists from Jordan, Iraq, Syria and Palestine.

According to a TRC statement on Thursday, Vice Chairman of the Board of Commissioners Nael Adwan said the program aligns with the commission’s vision to keep pace with global developments in the telecom sector and strengthen international cooperation with leading institutions.

Adwan said artificial intelligence has become "one of the most influential technological innovations in the mobile communications sector, which opens new horizons for service development, improves operational efficiency and enhances cybersecurity, while supporting digital transformation as a key driver of economic and social growth."

For his part, GSMA Head of Middle East and North Africa Jawad Abbassi said the cooperation with the TRC reflects Jordan’s "commitment" to advancing digital innovation and developing national capacities in telecommunications.

He added that AI has become a cornerstone in shaping the future of communications, adding that such training programs enable operators and decision-makers to integrate the latest technological solutions, which would enhance sector competitiveness and support sustainable development.

The workshop features ad hoc sessions that covers practical and regulatory aspects of AI in telecommunications and reviews the latest technological applications that improve network management and digital services.

The activities also address cybersecurity challenges and the use of AI to detect and respond effectively to digital threats.

The program discusses policies and regulatory frameworks to "optimally" use these technologies and highlight the leading international and regional experiences.

During the sessions, participants will engage directly with regional and international experts under practical workshops aimed at exchanging expertise and building advanced capabilities to keep pace with rapid technological developments.

The training program also provides deeper insight into challenges related to AI applications in telecommunications and explores practical solutions to ensure the safe and effective use of these technologies, strengthening digital infrastructure resilience and cybersecurity in line with global best practices.

The GSMA, which is a global organization that unifies the mobile system to discover, develop and deliver innovation, seeks to drive positive business outcomes and social change.
