"On 7 February 2026, His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan visited the Republic of Türkiye, where he was hosted by His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an in ?stanbul. The visit provided an opportunity for the two leaders to exchange views on bilateral relations as well as regional issues.

The meeting, held in a spirit of cooperation, reflected the strong historical bonds, distinguished relations, and common understanding between the two countries, as well as the shared objective to enhance their partnership in various fields. The two leaders underscored their commitment to further advancing bilateral relations at all levels, which will be marked by the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2027.

The two sides emphasised the importance of enhancing economic cooperation and increasing bilateral trade and investment. In this regard, they encouraged the private sectors of both countries to further explore new avenues of cooperation, expand partnerships, and increase the exchange of expertise and visits.

The two leaders welcomed the outcomes of the first meeting of the Joint Economic Commission, held in Amman on 27-28 October 2025, and underscored the importance of effective implementation of its decisions.

The leaders reviewed the ongoing cooperation frameworks and expressed their determination to make effective use of existing agreements, including trade and investment arrangements, and to deepen economic and industrial cooperation.

The two leaders reaffirmed the importance of continued coordination and cooperation in the fields of defence, industry, and security, noting their shared interest in regional security and stability.

The meeting addressed current regional developments, with particular focus on the situation in Palestine. The two leaders expressed grave concern over the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and stressed the urgent need for unimpeded delivery of humanitarian assistance, and the initiation of early recovery and reconstruction efforts in Gaza.

The two leaders stressed the necessity of achieving a just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution, leading to the establishment of an independent, sovereign and contiguous Palestinian State on the 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and focused on the urgent need to restore tranquility in the West Bank, where Israel’s annexation policies, forced displacement of thousands of Palestinians, and settler violence are undermining any prospect for shared peace and prosperity.

The two leaders expressed their support of peace efforts by United States President Donald Trump, and United Nations Security Council resolution 2803 (2025), and highlighted their view that the process should end the war, and create a concrete political pathway leading to the implementation of the two-state solution in accordance with relevant UN resolutions.

The two leaders reiterated their unwavering rejection of occupation, military aggression, and annexation, and also emphasised the centrality of territorial integrity, sovereignty, and national unity of all states for regional peace and stability. As such, they expressed their support for the establishment of collective mechanisms consistent with international law to ensure security and prosperity in the region.

The two leaders expressed their categorical rejection of any attempts to alter the legal and historical status quo in Jerusalem and its holy sites, and reaffirmed their rejection of all violations of the sanctity of Al Haram Al Sharif.

The Republic of Türkiye reaffirms its full respect for the Hashemite Custodianship over Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, and Jordan’s special role in safeguarding them.

The leaders recalled the critical importance of UNRWA, underscoring that the Agency remains indispensable in providing essential services to the Palestinian people, and expressed grave concern over systematic Israeli actions directed against UNRWA, stressing that such actions further aggravate the already dire humanitarian situation, and called upon all partners to continue supporting UNRWA.

The two leaders also reaffirmed their firm commitment to Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and unity, and their anticipation for the successful conclusion of an inclusive political process. In this vein, they called for full implementation of the agreements announced on 18 January and 30 January 2026, and underscored the importance of combatting terrorism in all its forms and manifestations to ensure stability in the country. They expressed their intention to further engage in the field of transportation between Türkiye, Jordan, and Syria. The leaders also underscored the importance of maintaining calm in the south of the country, calling for the cessation of Israeli violations and full adherence to the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement, and emphasising the importance of implementing the Suwayda Roadmap, announced in September 2025.

At the conclusion of the visit, His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein expressed his appreciation to His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an, and to the Government and people of the Republic of Türkiye for the warm hospitality extended to him and his accompanying delegation.

His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein also invited His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an to visit Jordan.
