14/ Fuel shortages halt Civil Defense operations in Gaza
Gaza, Feb. 3 (Petra) – The Civil Defense Authority in the Gaza Strip said Tuesday that all its vehicles have ceased operations due to a complete depletion of fuel, warning of grave consequences for thousands of civilians amid the ongoing aggression and worsening humanitarian conditions. In a statement, the authority said the fuel shortage has forced a halt to recovery operations in targeted areas, as ambulances and rescue vehicles are unable to move. This has left injured people and others trapped under rubble for prolonged periods without access to assistance. The authority added that its field teams are no longer able to carry out critical tasks, including clearing debris, opening roads, and securing affected areas, due to the lack of fuel needed to operate machinery and heavy equipment. It also said teams are unable to respond to distress calls during storms and emergencies, heightening risks to residents in light of widespread infrastructure damage and the growing number of displaced people sheltering in exposed areas. The Civil Defense Authority called on international institutions and humanitarian organizations to urgently provide fuel to enable humanitarian teams to operate vehicles and equipment and continue delivering essential life-saving services. //Petra// AJ
