  30/ Authorities declare state of emergency to address expected extreme weather 

Amman, February 2 (Petra) – The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) on Monday said it is a declaring a state of emergency to address the expected extreme weather in the Kingdom.

GAM stated that field teams are fully prepared to respond to reports received through the Tla'a Al-Ali Emergency Room, calling on Jordanians to report any issues via the unified call center at 102 or 117180.

According to the statement, Jordanians are urged to exercise caution by avoiding valleys and low-lying areas and refraining from littering, which can block stormwater drainage systems.

It urged people to check submersible pumps in basements and shops located below street level, advising business owners to take precautionary measures when storing goods in warehouses and basements.

Contractors and construction project owners are advised to secure building materials to prevent them from being swept away and obstructing drainage channels.
