23/ Ramtha Municipality, German counterparts discuss waste management partnership

Ramtha, Feb. 2 (Petra) -- The head of the new Ramtha Municipality Committee, Jamal Abu Obeid, met Monday with representatives from the German municipality of Augsburg, Abdullah Nassour and Hani Abu Qadis, to discuss a partnership on the management and operation of Ramtha’s waste sorting station.

Abu Obeid said the visit aimed to evaluate the existing cooperation between the two municipalities, exchange expertise, and explore future joint projects. The collaboration is intended to advance the waste management sector, enhance environmental sustainability, and improve services for citizens.

He added that the establishment of the waste sorting station represents a step toward achieving a local environment free of harmful solid waste and reflects a broader civilizational vision. The initiative seeks to position Jordan at advanced levels in waste recycling and environmental protection, in line with the Hashemite leadership’s vision of promoting sustainable development.

Abu Obeid explained that the project involves collecting recyclable materials, including plastic, iron, aluminum, and cardboard, within the station’s current capabilities. These materials are then processed into environmentally friendly products that provide direct and indirect benefits to the local community.
