38/ PSUT launches first Jordanian cybersecurity spin-off, zero-trust system
Amman, February 1 (Petra) – Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT), in partnership with the Royal Scientific Society (RSS), announced the launch of a smart cybersecurity system based on the zero-trust principle and Defendexe, the university's first spin-off company specialising in cybersecurity solutions. PSUT said the initiative marks a strategic shift in the role of academic and research institutions toward incubating industrial innovation and delivering independent national solutions to protect critical digital infrastructure. Both PSUT and RSS have begun implementing Defendexe's systems within their digital environments, positioning the two institutions as a leading national model for the adoption of sovereign cybersecurity technologies that enhance the security and integrity of administrative and research processes. PSUT President Wajdan Abu Al Haija said the launch reflects the university's commitment to excellence by transforming research outputs into practical, competitive products. She noted that Defendexe serves as the university's technological arm, translating academic expertise into advanced cybersecurity solutions that support the national knowledge economy. Abu Al Haija added that the initiative aligns with the vision of the Chair of the University's Board of Trustees and President of RSS, Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, who has consistently stressed the importance of harnessing science and innovation to build independent national capabilities and empower Jordanian talent. Founded by Mohammad Nabhan, a PSUT faculty member and international expert in blockchain and cybersecurity, Defendexe offers advanced solutions designed to enhance digital sovereignty. Its flagship product, VerifyX, is the first Jordanian digital signature system compliant with European and international standards. The system, currently implemented at PSUT, features a zero-trust architecture and quantum-ready cybersecurity capabilities to ensure continuous verification and secure digital transactions. The company provides an AI-powered intrusion detection system capable of predicting cyberattacks and analysing suspicious behaviour with high accuracy. All Defendexe solutions operate entirely within institutional digital infrastructures, ensuring that sensitive data remains under national control. PSUT said the launch underscores its commitment to strengthening Jordan's cybersecurity and digital transformation ecosystem through scientific research, innovation and strategic partnerships with national and regional impact. //Petra// AK
