10/ Jordanian–Saudi Parliamentary Committee Moves to Activate Diplomacy, Sets Action Plan

Amman, Feb. 1 (Petra) -- Jordanian and Saudi lawmakers moved to operationalize parliamentary diplomacy on Sunday as the Jordanian-Saudi Parliamentary Friendship Committee agreed on a framework to activate its work and set priorities for the next phase of cooperation.

The meeting, chaired by MP Abdul Baset Al-Kabariti, focused on translating bilateral ties into structured parliamentary coordination across legislative, oversight, and policy areas, in parallel with official diplomatic channels.

Al-Kabariti said the committee’s agenda centers on strengthening parliamentary coordination to support joint Arab positions and contribute to regional security, stability, and development, reflecting the strategic depth of relations between Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

Discussions addressed mechanisms for sustained consultation, exchange of legislative expertise, and the identification of priority files for the coming period, with an emphasis on improving performance and delivering tangible outcomes from parliamentary engagement.

Committee members MPs Mohammad Al-Marayeh and Ibrahim Al-Jbour stressed the importance of maintaining direct and continuous communication between the Jordanian House of Representatives and the Saudi Shura Council.

They said closer parliamentary alignment would support shared interests, facilitate coordination on regional and international issues, and reinforce the advanced level of relations between the two countries.
