29/ King’s China visit opens 'fresh' prospects to drive Jordan's growth: First Deputy Speaker
Amman, August 20 (Petra) - "His Majesty King Abdullah II’s visit to China marks a strategic step toward strengthening Jordan’s economic partnership with the Asian power, unlocking investment opportunities and expanding trade," First Deputy Speaker of the Lower House of Representatives Khamis Atieh said. In press remarks Thursday, Atieh noted that the visit signals the Kingdom’s "readiness" for establishing new global partnerships, leveraging its stability and strategic location to attract investments that create jobs and drive long-term development. China’s industrial, technological, and economic scale makes it a "crucial" partner for Jordan, he added, offering key opportunities to attract foreign investment, launch joint manufacturing projects, transfer expertise, and expand markets for Jordanian products. As for Jordan's current priviliges, he pointed to its "strategic" location, political stability, and "broad" trade network as "key assets" that position the Kingdom as a "regional hub" for Chinese investment. He urged both nations to build lasting partnerships across core sectors, including manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, technology, and logistics. He identified manufacturing, energy, transportation, technology, and logistics as "prime sectors" for joint ventures, urging government agencies and the private sector to turn agreements into tangible projects and work to reduce the bilateral trade imbalance. //Petra// HA
