  21/ Tafila University Team Wins Int'l Engineering competition

Tafila, Aug. 20 (Petra) -- A student team from Tafila Technical University (TTU)'s College of Engineering ranked 1st worldwide in a student programming and engineering design competition, organized by the Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society in strategic partnership with global software company MathWorks

The winning team, representing Department of Computer and Communications Engineering, comprised students Ubaida Yahya al-Salih and Qais Ibrahim al-Omour, working under the academic supervision Alaa Alemaryeen.

In its statement Thursday, the university said the competition focused on developing advanced engineering solutions to shrink the footprint of communications antennas, boost antenna bandwidth efficiency and lower resonance frequency using advanced algorithms.

The TTU stated the winning project successfully addressed several engineering challenges tied to communications antenna design and met requirements of modern technology and future wireless communications applications.

TTU President Hasan Shalabi said the milestone reflects the academic and research efforts of students and faculty members, referring to the university's continued support for innovation and scientific research.

In recognition of the achievement, the winning team received an official invitation to publish its research paper in the ACES Journal. The winners were also invitated to attend and participate in the ACES 2027 international conference, scheduled to be held in the United States.
