Amman, Aug. 20 (Petra) – The National Cyber Security Center (NCSCJO) on Wednesday concluded its National Cyber ??Exercise 2026. The three-day exercise involved approximately 40 national entities from critical infrastructure sectors, government agencies, universities, and regulatory and oversight bodies. A total of 165 specialists participated in the technical track and 75 others engaged in the administrative path. Talking at the closing ceremony, NCSCJO Director, Mohammad Smadi, stated the exercise's conclusion represents a significant milestone in building national cyber readiness. He noted that the "true" value of such exercises lies in shifting from theory to practical testing of institutional capabilities and assessing their preparedness to respond to cyber incidents and attacks in realistic scenarios. As for its feasibility, Smadi said the exercise provided a "valuable" opportunity for participating institutions to test their technical and administrative capabilities, identify strengths and areas for improvement, and enhance coordination among technical teams and senior management. On follow-up vision, he noted that the center will leverage the exercise's outcomes and lessons learned to improve national response levels and enhance efficiency of institutions and personnel working in the cybersecurity field. During the last day, events featured execution of a joint exercise, encompassing both technical and administrative tracks, a final review session to assess performance and the recognition of participants and entities that contributed to the exercise's success. The exercise comprised 2 main tracks: A technical track simulating advanced cyberattacks within a specialized experimental environment. Meanwhile, the administrative path featured a virtual exercise to test leadership's decision-making abilities and crisis management skills in cybersecurity, including legal, regulatory, media, business continuity, and recovery aspects. The national exercise is part of the center's efforts to strengthen the national protection and response system, raise preparedness level among vital institutions, and instill a culture of proactive preparedness and effective response to escalating cybersecurity risks and threats. //Petra// AG
