14/ 211,000 students attended summer Quran memorization programs
Amman, Aug. 20 (Petra) – Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Khalaileh, on Thursday sponsored the closing ceremony of the free summer Quran memorization, recitation, and Tajweed programs for school students of all ages. The ministry launched the summer programs in late June, in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, under the theme: "A Cleaner Environment... A More Refined Society." The programs featured various educational activities to reinforce students' religious and national values, and implement volunteer initiatives and campaigns to promote cleanliness and environmental awareness. In the presence of Minister of Environment, Ayman Suleiman, Khalaileh said more than 2,000 centers affiliated with the Ministry of Awqaf continue to operate throughout the year to monitor students and reinforce outcomes in the summer programs. Talking at the ceremony, Khalaileh stated cleanliness is not solely the responsibility of ministries or municipalities, but rather a shared task and a societal behavior that align with teachings of Islam and human awareness. Dr. Hatem Suhaimat, Director of the Ministry's Religious Education, stated the centers, adding that approximately 211,000 male and female students participated this year. In turn, Dr. Lamis Hazim, Director of Women's Affairs at the Ministry, said a total of 2,107 summer centers were designated for females, as approximately 125,000 female students enrolled. Concluding the ceremony, which was attended by the ministry's senior officials, Khalaileh honored 12 outstanding summer centers, in recognition of their efforts and their excellence in implementing the programs and activities scheduled during the season. //Petra// AG
