Amman, August 19 (Petra) - Arab Potash Company CEO Maen Nsour cautioned on Wednesday that economic security is now integral to national security, as global and regional instability poses growing threats to state stability and sovereign interests.

Nsour spoke at a lecture at the Royal Jordanian War College on current national security challenges and economic crises, attended by the college commandant and directing staff.

He cited public debt, fiscal deficits, unemployment, food and energy security, supply chain disruptions, and cybersecurity as primary challenges requiring a diversified, resilient economy capable of absorbing shocks.

Nsour, reflecting on past crises in Jordan, noted that the resilience of state institutions and stable monetary policies helped navigate these downturns. He stressed the necessity of strategic planning, risk management, reserve building, and productivity growth.

He also pointed to the role of economic modeling and early warning systems in forecasting crises to guide decision-makers.

Strengthening national security, he concluded, demands "unified efforts" across state institutions and the private sector, along with "sustained investment" in human capital, technology, and research and development.

Participants wrapped up the session by discussing strategies to cushion the economic impact of regional instability and prepare for upcoming risks.
