29/ Jordan boasts 'diverse' industrial production base to achieve growth: JCI

Amman, August 13 (Petra) - Jordan’s industrial sector is "well-positioned" to expand into regional and international markets, thanks to its "diverse" production capacity and strong export potential, according to Chairman of Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI) Fathi Jaghbir.

In a statement Thursday, Jaghbir welcomed a new International Labour Organization (ILO) report, titled: "Market Systems Analysis of Priority Sectors for Inclusive Growth in Jordan: Food Industry, Food Services, and Chemicals" that pinpoints food manufacturing, services, and chemical industries as the Kingdom's primary drivers for job creation and inclusive growth.

Describing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as "primary drivers" of economic growth, Jaghbir called for expanding access to financing and market data. He added that boosting SME production, management, and marketing capabilities is "critical" to helping them reach new markets.

He also called for cutting production costs, boosting productivity, and improving energy efficiency. Strengthening supply chains and workforce skills, he added, remains "key" to sharpening the competitive edge of industrial firms.

Expanding export destinations is equally critical, Jaghbir noted, urging "stronger" trade links and better market intelligence to help businesses understand global buyer trends, diversify their products, and enter new markets.

On its vision, he said the JCI remains focused on boosting the industrial sector's contribution to the national economy.
