12/ Jordan Falcons Open William Jones Cup Campaign Against Malaysia

Amman, Aug. 13 (Petra) – Jordan’s national basketball team, the Jordan Falcons, will tip off its campaign at the 45th William Jones Cup on Friday against Malaysia at 10 a.m. Jordan time at Xinzhuang Gymnasium in New Taipei City, Chinese Taipei.

The tournament runs from Aug. 14 to 23 and features eight teams split into two groups. Jordan is drawn in Group B alongside Malaysia, Chinese Taipei White, and the United States, while Group A features Chinese Taipei Blue, the Philippines, South Korea, and Japan.

Jordan is using the tournament as part of its buildup to upcoming international fixtures, most notably the fourth window of the second round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup. The team is scheduled to face the Philippines and Australia on Aug. 28 and 30 in Manila.

The Jordan Falcons wrapped up their preparations in Amman under Spanish head coach Luis Guil Torres before traveling to Chinese Taipei. The tournament will give the team a chance to sharpen its fitness and form against teams with different playing styles.

After Friday’s opener against Malaysia, Jordan will face the United States on Saturday and Chinese Taipei White on Sunday. The Falcons will then meet Malaysia again on Tuesday before wrapping up the preliminary round with return games against Chinese Taipei White and the United States.

Jordan will be looking to make a strong start while using the tournament to fine-tune its preparations for upcoming international fixtures.
