Irbid, Aug. 11 (Petra) -- Summer Quran memorization centers organized by the First Irbid Awqaf Directorate have attracted a significant number of students and young people, offering educational and developmental programs and purposeful activities aimed at making productive use of their summer holiday while strengthening their connection to the Quran and its values and teachings.

Participants said the centers' programs provided an important opportunity to make productive use of their holiday, adding that the variety of activities made learning more enjoyable and beneficial while taking into account differences in students' levels and abilities.

Ahmed Majdalawi, director of the Khalil Al-Rahman Mosque Quran Center in the Tawal neighborhood, which has 500 male and female students, said the programs included lessons in Quran recitation, Tajweed rules, memorization, and revision.

The centers also offer guidance and awareness sessions covering educational and behavioral topics such as respecting parents and others, maintaining prayers, honesty and trustworthiness, cooperation, and good conduct.

The programs also include Quran memorization, the study of the Prophet's biography, and the memorization and study of works on Islamic jurisprudence, Majdalawi said, adding that center supervisors seek to instill these values in students.

Director of the First Irbid Awqaf Directorate Raed Jarwan said recreational and cultural activities formed an important part of the centers' programs, including Quran and cultural competitions and group activities that help identify students' talents and develop their teamwork skills.

Such activities also promote healthy competition and encourage students to continue learning and memorising, he said.

Jarwan said initiatives implemented by the Awqaf Directorate through the centers, which number 100 across the First Irbid Awqaf Directorate's areas, help broaden the benefits to include health, social, and awareness-related aspects.

Specialists and experienced professionals are invited to speak to students about issues of concern to them and provide advice and guidance to help them deal with various challenges they may face during their development, he said.

Supervisors and teachers at the centers place particular emphasis on educational and behavioral development, Jarwan added, noting that the purpose of teaching the Quran goes beyond memorization to understanding its meanings and applying the values and conduct derived from it in daily life.
