26/ Jordan decries Colombia's recognition of so-called Israeli sovereignty over occupied Golan Heights

Amman, August 11 (Petra) – Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the Republic of Colombia's declaration to recognize the alleged Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.

In a statement, the ministry's official spokesperson, Fouad Majali, affirmed the Kingdom's rejection and condemnation of this declaration, which contravenes international law and resolutions of international legitimacy.

Majali said the occupied Golan Heights are an integral part of Syrian territory, in accordance with international law and UN Security Council Resolution 497 of 1981.

Majali reiterated the Kingdom's "categorical" rejection of the continued Israeli attacks and incursions into Syrian territory.

In this context, he urged the international community to uphold its responsibilities in respecting international law and UN resolutions and compel Israel to cease its provocative and illegal attacks on Syria and end its occupation of any part of its territory.

He noted that the Kingdom also affirms its "firm" position in supporting brotherly Syria in rebuilding on the foundations that guarantee its unity, sovereignty, security, stability, territorial integrity and its citizens' safety and preserve rights of all Syrians.
