Aqaba, Aug. 10 (Petra) -- Top-performing General Secondary Education Certificate (Tawjihi) students in Aqaba celebrated their results on Monday evening after completing their studies under the new secondary education system, becoming the first cohort to sit the examination under the new system.

The students said their success was the result of hard work, perseverance, and effective time management, as well as support from their families and schools.

Omar Al-Tihi, a student at King Abdullah II Schools for Excellence in Aqaba Governorate, scored 99.5% in the health sciences field.

He said he was delighted with his result, adding that achieving the score followed a year of hard work and dedication, supported by his family and teachers.

Speaking to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Omar said taking the Tawjihi examination as part of the first cohort under the new system had been a different experience.

Time management, thorough preparation, and self-confidence helped him achieve his goal, he said, adding that he planned to continue his studies in the health sciences field.

Safa Al-Farajat, who scored 99% in the medical field, said she was delighted with her result after months of study and perseverance.

The new system had posed a challenge for students, she said, but the support she received from her family and teachers helped her overcome the examination period and achieve the result she had hoped for.

Director of the Aqaba Education Directorate Abdul Wahab Al-Hajjaj told Petra that the results achieved by students in the governorate, particularly top performers, were a source of pride, stressing that they had demonstrated their ability to adapt to the new system and achieve outstanding results.

Al-Hajjaj praised the significant efforts made by all parties involved in ensuring the success of the Tawjihi examinations.

He expressed his appreciation to the educational and administrative staff for carrying out their duties responsibly, as well as security personnel for helping provide a safe and suitable environment for the examinations and everyone who contributed to their successful completion through to the announcement of the results.

Al-Hajjaj congratulated successful and top-performing students and their families, wishing them continued success and excellence in their future educational stages and expressing hope that their achievement would mark the beginning of the fulfillment of their ambitions and aspirations.

He also addressed students who did not achieve the results they had hoped for in this session, urging them not to regard the result as the end of the road but rather as a stage that can be overcome through determination and perseverance.

Every student has their own path to success, he said, wishing them success in the days ahead.

Celebrations and congratulations continued across Aqaba Governorate following the announcement of the results, while the achievements of top-performing students marked a notable milestone in their educational journeys and the beginning of a new phase of ambition and hopes for the future.
