Amman, Aug. 10 (Petra) – Airport International Group (AIG), the Jordanian company operating Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA), announced Monday that the airport has achieved Level 1 of the Airports Council International (ACI) Accessibility Enhancement Accreditation (AEA), following its first participation in the global accreditation program.

In a statement, AIG said the accreditation reflects QAIA’s efforts to provide a more accessible and inclusive travel experience while aligning its facilities, services, and operational practices with international standards. It noted that the accreditation is awarded to airports that adopt an integrated approach to improving accessibility and incorporating inclusive practices across their operations.

The group indicated that, with Level 1 accreditation, QAIA joins a growing network of airports working to enable passengers to navigate airport facilities with greater ease, confidence, and independence. It added that accessibility is a key component of AIG’s approach to improving the passenger experience.

Devilliers said the accreditation reflects the group's commitment to making accessibility a fundamental part of the airport experience. "At Airport International Group, we see inclusion as an ongoing journey rather than a destination," he said, adding that the milestone reinforces the group's commitment to continuously developing Queen Alia International Airport in line with international best practices.

Over the years, the airport has developed services and facilities aimed at better meeting the needs of passengers with disabilities and reduced mobility. These include accessible parking and terminal infrastructure, tactile guidance paths, adapted facilities, priority seating, sign-language interpretation services, AI-supported service request points, and continued development of its digital platforms. AIG said these measures are intended to provide a more accessible and inclusive airport environment.

The accreditation adds to other international recognitions received by AIG and QAIA this year. The airport advanced from Level 3 to Level 4 under ACI’s Airport Customer Experience Accreditation program, retained its four-star airport rating under the Skytrax World Airport Star Rating program, and was included among the world’s top 100 airports.
