13/ Cabinet Quadruples 'Better Work' Funding to JOD 5M in Major Push for Garment Sector

AMMAN, Aug. 10 (Petra) -- The Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan has approved a high-impact financial package aimed at fortifying Jordan's manufacturing powerhouse and expanding employment across the Kingdom.

Demonstrating strong state backing for industrial growth, the Council of Ministers committed to funding the "Better Work" program for an additional three-year term.

In a decisive move to bolster the industry, the government quadrupled the program's budget allocation to 5 million dinars, up from its previous 1.1 million dinars, mandating the Ministry of Labor to finalize all operational protocols for execution.

Operating since 2008 as a flagship alliance between the Ministry of Labor, the International Labour Organization (ILO), and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the "Better Work" initiative is designed to raise workplace standards, boost productivity, and preserve the global competitiveness of Jordan's textile and apparel sector. By reinforcing factory compliance and worker welfare, the upgraded funding aims to draw fresh foreign direct investment, accelerate export volume, and open new production branches to employ Jordanian workers nationwide.
